Barry Bales is a recording/touring musician, songwriter, producer, and one of the most respected bassists in acoustic music with a storied 33-year career to back it up. A native of Mosheim, TN, Barry has been an integral member of Alison Krauss & Union Station since 1990 and since has collected 15 Grammy awards and 23 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, including 4 Bass Player of the Year trophies. As a songwriter, Bales helped pen Chris Stapleton’s Top 10 hit “Nobody To Blame”, which went on to produce two ACM awards and a CMA award for Song of the Year. In the year 2000, Barry appeared in the box office smash “Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?” along with heavily contributing to the soundtrack. He has also recorded and/or performed with such artists as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney, Dwight Yoakam, and Vince Gill.
